The Snack Report: Thomas’ Blueberry English Muffins

I feel like I start a lot of my Snack Reports with, “I was in the grocery store and saw this on sale.”  But that’s really how I end up finding most of the stuff I review.  Some foodstuffs I hear about in advance and seek out to review, but a lot I find while just wandering around the grocery store, and if it’s on sale, I’m game for giving it a try.  So…I was in the grocery store the other day and saw these blueberry English muffins on sale.  Actually I saw a different Thomas’ product on sale first, but it’s going to be on sale for longer than these are, so I ended up getting them first.   I had tried the limited edition apple pie English muffins a few months ago and enjoyed them, so I figured blueberry English muffins were worth a shot as well; I like both blueberries and English muffins.

The Snack Report: Quaker’s Safari Animals Oatmeal

In Meg and I’s ongoing quest to pretend we’re adults, we continue to fail in glorious, brilliant, new ways, ranging from tickle fights that lead to broken noses, to cookies ending up in someone’s underwear. This last week however we had another sterling display of why we’re both mentally 8 years old. While preparing for a party we were throwing, we ended up running late. In the process of buying some last minute groceries for said party, we walked into a store and told ourselves “Okay. We’re gonna be late for our own party. Let’s make this quick; we can’t get distracted.”

About two minutes in, we ended up sidetracked in the cereal aisle marveling at Batman VS Superman cereals, and then were stopped dead in our tracks mesmerized because there’s a new version of that dinosaur oatmeal, now featuring safari animals.

Pizza Lab #38: Chicken & Waffles Pizza

So I was born and raised here in New York. New York’s got some decent foods it calls claim to fame. Bagels, pizza, buffalo wings, etc… It’s great. But despite that, I have to admit part of me rues the fact I missed out on certain treats more exclusive to southern cooking while growing up. In particular, a few years back I became acquainted with the so-random-it’s-brilliant homestyle concoction known as chicken & waffles. Fast-forward to present day, and we’ve finally gotten around to crafting a Pizza Lab after this scrumptious classic of American recipes.DSCF8132

Quick Recipe: Avocado Breakfast Toast

Most mornings I’m satisfied having a bagel, cereal, or oatmeal for breakfast. But some mornings I just wake up wanting more. When that happens I usually turn to eggs. They’re yummy, full of protein, and fast to make. But eating just scrambled or over easy eggs with buttered toast can get boring. That means it’s time to mix things up! On the particular morning that I came up with this I happened to have half of an avocado lying around that I wanted to use before it went bad, so I proceeded from there.

The Cereal Report: Holiday Sprinkles Cookie Crunch

The Cereal Report is a column in which PCFG conducts various cereal reviews, of new or limited products, as well as providing brief backgrounds on the cereal. Cereal is delicious and fairly cheap as far as meals go. Everyone should eat cereal!

The other day we took a look at Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch, a pretty awesome, worthy cereal. General Mills releases it around Christmastime each year in tandem with another festively-themed breakfast food, Holiday Sprinkles Cookie Crunch. Unlike its brethren unfortunately, this one isn’t quite as good.
