We Can Do It Better: How To Make Homemade Chicken Fingers

If there is one universally loved menu item I’m willing to bet everyone enjoys, a food so beloved by people from different races, creeds, and backgrounds, one thing we can all agree is just sooooo frigging tasty from the time we’re capable of eating solid food, to the time we’re no longer capable of eating solid food…

Oh man…

It’s chicken fingers. Seriously, everybody likes chicken fingers. You can’t dislike them. They’re perfect. They’re crisp and tasty and moist, have just enough flavor yet go great with a variety of condiments… There’s no reason to not eat them, diet permitting. Okay, so maybe they’re not the healthiest food out there, but as we’ve already established, fried foods aren’t necessarily bad for you so long as you fry them correctly. That’s especially true when you make your own fried foods at home. So, well, why the hell not?

Quick Recipe: Cereal Chicken

We’ve covered chicken cutlets before on PCFG. They’re easy, relatively quick, and require few ingredients. Today’s recipe is an alternate take on them, however. This recipe incorporates crushed up cereal, like Cap’n Crunch, as breading for your chicken. The result is, well, it’s pretty much what you’d expect. It’s yummy, crunchy chicken pieces with a subtle sweetness from the cereal. It might take a little longer than using plain old breadcrumbs, but it’s a fun change-up for this classic recipe. After you’re done reading, why not take a look at some Cereal Report posts to pass the time?

Quick Recipe: Chicken Pasanda

Chicken Pasanda is a curry dish that some describe as a “royal” dish, due to its richness. It skips out on the usual ingredients of tomato sauce/paste, which gives it a nice creamy white color, which makes it stand out from other curries which are frequently reddish or orange. It has all your standard curry flavors, with a fun bonus addition of chopped almonds which add a delightful nutty flavor to the dish. Bear in mind, our column’s name “quick recipe” denotes the the fact that the post is quick, not the recipe necessarily. In this case, chicken pasanda is a bit on the lengthy side of meals to make, but it shouldn’t take longer than an hour to prepare. It’s certainly worth it; it tastes awesome!

Food 101: How To Make Shish Kebab

Everyone knows my favorite season is Summer. Everything about it is awesome. The weather is great, you can enjoy being outside, plants are in bloom, fresh fruits and vegetables are growing, and the list goes on… I guess if you don’t tolerate heat well, you could go on about the weather not being great and drag in that tired, pointless argument of ‘Derp but if you’re cold you can always put on more layers, if it’s hot you can’t take more clothes off.’ Seriously that explanation makes sense in the very plainest of forms, but it makes absolutely no sense in the real world. Also, I doooo love when people in the first world with air conditioned homes and air conditioned cars and pools and refrigerators and freezers list off their white person problems and piss and moan about how it’s too hot during the Summertime. Oh I do love it!

But really, come on, how can anyone complain when it’s barbecue season? Definitely, inarguably one specific great point about Summer is grilling, which cements it in the running with Autumn when ranking seasons based on their food. We’ve already explained how to grill in another post, but now we’re gonna talk about one tried and true favorite, skewered meat, AKA shish kebab!
