The Cereal Report: Chocolate Toast Crunch

The Cereal Report is a column in which PCFG conducts various cereal reviews, of new or limited products, as well as providing brief backgrounds on the cereal. Cereal is delicious and fairly cheap as far as meals go. Everyone should eat cereal!

It’s not everyday you see a new rendition of the Toast Crunch cereals. Lo and behold however, with the new year comes Chocolate Toast Crunch. People like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, people love chocolate, so Chocolate Toast Crunch should be a given right? Afterall the last one, Peanut Butter Toast Crunch was fantastic and the original Cinnamon sets a very high standard for its successors. Unfortunately Chocolate Toast Crunch is one of the weaker entries in this cherished line.

We Can do it Better: Taco Bell Chicken Flatbread Sandwich

Erik has already admitted to being a recovering Taco Bell addict. The thing that makes this journey the hardest, and most temps relapse are their cheap chicken flatbreads. The one he specifically misses the most is the chipotle chicken flatbread. The chipotle chicken flatbread sandwiches were originally released in the summer of 2011 for a limited time, and have occasionally been re-released for limited runs since then. The sandwiches were made on square flatbreads with marinated grilled chicken, cheddar, pepper jack and mozzarella cheeses, and a chipotle sauce. A simple, but delicious concoction.

This is a picture of the Taco Bell version, if you couldn't tell.

Luckily for Erik, and you dear reader, it’s absurdly easy to make your own Taco Bell chicken flatbread sandwiches at home.

Food 101: How To Make Whipped Cream

Condiments are an interesting aspect of food. They make so many foods taste better, yet on their own they’re pretty disgusting. I can’t imagine eating french fries without ketchup, but the thought of downing a big ol’ bowl of ketchup is pretty gag inducing. There’s sauces you throw on top of roasted meats and fried foods and other dinner fare, and the same goes for dessert too. Possibly the most well known and versatile of the dessert condiments is whipped cream. Creamy and light, whipped cream is delicious on everything from ice cream to boobs. Most people know it exclusively through ready-made whipped cream from a pressurized can, which works in a pinch. But nothing beats thick, luscious homemade whipped cream, which believe it or not is surprisingly easy to make.

Pro-tip: Storing Your Dry Goods

I’ve already filled you in on the importance of keeping things like flour and sugar stocked in your pantry, however to make sure you’re really getting your money’s worth, it’s important to store them properly. We recently found out the hard way what happens when you use flour that’s gone bad. The result was sad chocolate chip cookies. Don’t let sad chocolate chip cookies happen to you. The Cereal Report: Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme Cereal

The Cereal Report is a column in which PCFG conducts various cereal reviews, of new or limited products, as well as providing brief backgrounds on the cereal. Cereal is delicious and fairly cheap as far as meals go. Everyone should eat cereal!

It’s been a long, brutal Winter. Fortunately Spring is on its way soon! Probably! To be honest, who the frig knows at this point. The vernal equinox is a day away, and it’s still below freezing here in New York. I give up. No matter, as springtime tends to be a time when cereal companies begin releasing new products, or so I’ve noticed over the years. Both brand new cereals, and limited runs from the past year or so, find their way onto stores, which I imagine might be something to do with the fact that people probably tend to eat more hot cereals during winter months. Either way, it’s an exciting time of year for the budding cereal enthusiast or anyone with an inner child. It may be obnoxiously cold outside, but that didn’t stop me from locating some new cereals to review. Just the other day, Meg and I stumbled onto this exciting, little treasure:
