Recipe Time! Strawberry Peanut Butter Toast

Okay, so this isn’t so much a recipe as it is me just sharing this idea with you, but I’ll write it out in recipe form anyway.

As Erik mentioned in his last post, breakfast is an often skipped meal, which is a shame since it’s an important way to get your day started and also has lots of yummy foods. Even faster than French toast is regular toast, which can be kind of boring to eat every day, but luckily there are lots of ways to easily fancy it up.

Since powdered toast isn't a thing, you're going to have to make your toast the old fashioned way.

Recipe Time! Leftover Easter Egg Salad

While it didn’t really feel like it since it’s still barely spring out, Easter was this past weekend. You colored your eggs, hid them, found them…and now what? Eat them of course! If you’d like you can just straight up eat hard boiled eggs as is, but that gets pretty boring. My favorite way to use up Easter eggs is by making egg salad. There are a lot of fancy egg salad recipes out there, but I’m going to share my basic egg salad recipe with you.

Support PCFG’s entry in the Lay’s “Do Us A Flavor” sweepstakes!

Last year Lay’s rocked the munchies world by launching a contest where people could submit ideas for new potato chip flavors. After the dust settled, the winner was Karen Mendham’s Cheese Garlic Bread flavor. We here at PCFG have tried them in the past few months and they seem to deserve the win, definitely having a cheese/garlic flavor to them.

Fast forward to present day, Lay’s is once again opening the floodgates for people to post all manners of stupid ideas, ranging from bacon doughnut to seviche to cinnamon sugar. Meg A. and I recently came up with our own idea and decided to submit it. That’s right, Poor Couple’s Food Guide is officially throwing our hat into the ring, with our idea for Tzatziki Gyro flavored potato chips! The idea is inspired from our mutual love for eating french fries dipped in tzatziki sauce while getting gyros. Now obviously, as a nationwide sweepstakes, the odds of winning are hilariously low. That’s why we ask you to give us some help and support our flavor on both Lay’s website and on Facebook.

If we make it to the finals, then YOU get to buy the flavor in stores when the other finalists are released in retail for final voting. So don’t do it for us, do it for yourselves!

Christmas Cookie Roundup: Make Your Own Yoshi’s Cookies!

T’was the night before Christmas and all through the house, we’re all baking cookies, something something mouse. That was ham-fisted, yes, but I’m pressed for time to attend the annual Italian ritual of attempting to cook enough fish on one given night to cause mass extinction of several species. I hate fish, you see, as does Meg. So naturally we’re making a pizza tonight. Now if I may be ham-fistedly make a random segue…

Anyone remember that video game Yoshi’s Cookie? It was a puzzle game for older game consoles like Super Nintendo and the original Game Boy. It featured you playing as the Super Mario character, Yoshi (a green dinosaur that loves to eat), controlling a field of cookies in which you must line up different versions of the cookies in order for them to be cleared away.
