Thanksgiving Roundup
Contrary to how it may seem, what with Christmas things being aired since Halloween, there is indeed a holiday this week. That’s right – Thanksgiving is this Thursday! Thanksgiving is a holiday that can strike fear into those who don’t really know how to cook, since food is a major part of the celebration. But we’re here to help. While we’re not tackling hosting our own Thanksgiving dinner yet, we figured we would put together a collection of our Thanksgiving recipes and posts for anyone looking for some tips on how to make easy Thanksgiving dishes.
One of the most important parts of a Thanksgiving meal, aside from the turkey, is obviously your gravy. Find out how you can make it in just 5 minutes!
Pizza Lab #23: Grilled Caramel Apple Pizza
It’s no secret that we love apples. We’ve made apple cider, apple pancakes, and even apple fries! Hell, I spent the past three weeks reviewing apple ciders. Simply put, apples are the best. Although we’ve dabbled in this combination before, it’s been at least a year since our last one. Of course I speak of an apple pizza. Pizza lab has featured sweet pies with fruit a number of times, so it’s only natural to return to one of our favorite fruits. Plus, it’s actually pretty Fall-themed too, so that makes this post quite timely. Today’s featured Pizza Lab is Grilled Caramel Apple Pizza.
The Snack Report: Mckenzie’s Pumpkin Jack Hard Cider
Halloween is less than a week away. We’re excited, you know it. If you’ve been with us from the beginning of the month, you’ll know I took to reviewing some seasonal hard ciders, the only perfect drink of the Fall (sorry pumpkin ale). While reviewing ciders this month, I decided to save the best for last. A cider so delectable, it’s strong and formidable, yet tastes reminiscent of liquid dessert. The last of our seasonal Fall cider reviews is McKenzie’s Pumpkin Jack Hard Cider.
Cheat Code: Roasting Jack O’lantern Pumpkin Seeds
It’s that time of year again. It’s almost Halloween, which means it’s time for witches, ghosts, goblins, and jack o’lanterns! Pumpkins and jack o’lanterns are some of the best Halloween decorations because they look nice and fun, but are also food! That’s right, all that gloop you pull out of your pumpkin to carve it has a bonus snack hidden within. Pumpkin seeds! Pumpkin seeds are a good snack because they’re a good source of protein, fiber, vitamin E and vitamin B. They also contain the good fats that can help lower cholesterol. So you could definitely think twice before just throwing all those seeds out. But before eating them you need to roast them.
