The Kitchen Report: Ninja Master Prep Professional

Though we usually review snacks here at PCFG, from time to time we’ll also review kitchen equipment.  Unless otherwise noted, none of our product reviews are paid for.  The only bonus we’ll get is if you decide to order something through our Amazon Associates link, and even then the amount we get isn’t worth lying over.  Our reviews are simply to give our opinion on things we think our readers are interested in.

Since the return of Smoothie Sunday is right around the corner, I decided to do a review of the blender I use to make my smoothies.

When I first started making smoothies I was using a blender that I’m pretty sure was older than me because I think it was one of my parents’ wedding presents.  Needless to say, a 20+ year old blender didn’t handle making smoothies that well.  We got a new blender, but it was still the same style – with the motor on the bottom and the jar part that goes on top with the little blades in the bottom.  It worked better at first, but soon I ran into similar problems.  The ice would jam up the blades and smoothie making was just generally a hassle.  It was time to try something new.

Cheat Codes: Turn Stale Bread Into Breadcrumbs

So it’s Sunday dinner with your entire family. Your aunt and uncle bring over two loaves of the most delicious, crusty loaf of bread from the fancy-pants bakery near their house. You and your bad self devour that loaf of bread. Olive oil… butter… sauce… it doesn’t matter. It’s a goner. You say good night to your family that night and all is well.

BUT OH GOD NO, IT’S TWO WEEKS LATER AND YOU TOTALLY FORGOT THERE WAS A SECOND LOAF OF BREAD.

But relax, guys. You can totally still eat that bread… for you see, you’ve just entered the first phase of breadcrumb-making.

The Snack Report: Crunchie Bar

You know it’s the damnedest thing. For some reason over the past 6 months of my life, I have just been craving the shit out of chocolate. Not necessarily junk chocolate you impulse-buy near the register… moreso the finer chocolate confections in life. Stuff like dark chocolate, hot cocoa, high-quality chocolate rabbits, chocolate-covered-everything, etc… And I never really liked chocolate that much, growing up. I never disliked it, but I always made fun of those hokey expressions like “I’m a chocoholic” or “Chocolate makes everything better.”
To be fair, I still make fun of them, but holy hell I cannot shake this craving. If I didn’t know any better I’d say I’m pregnant. (If Meg and I didn’t hate children. Oh and also, there’s the me being a dude part). Lo and behold, we happened upon a fun, little tea shop recently that had Crunchie Bars in stock. I’ve vaguely heard of them in passing, but never actually ate one since they’re not usually sold in the Americas. And man, with top-tier chocolate companies like Cadbury being over there, Europe is freaking spoilllllled.

Shhh… don’t tell anyone this wasn’t for resale. HONEST. IT’S NOT OUR FAULT.

The Snack Report: Dole Smoothie Shakers

Smoothie Sunday season is almost here!  I better get to work and start coming up with some new smoothie recipes!  In the mean time, I decided to ease into things by reviewing some smoothie products you can buy in stores.  First up is Dole Smoothie Shakers.  These seem to be the option for if you want a quick smoothie on the go since no blender is necessary.  There are seven flavors available (though I only saw two in the store I was in): blueberry banana, pineapple mango, strawberry raspberry, peach mango, strawberry, strawberry banana, and mixed berry.  I tried pineapple mango.  I went with that one because it also has carrot and sweet potato in it, and since I tried making my own carrot and sweet potato smoothies last year, I wanted to see how a different one would taste.  I also I just enjoy both pineapple and mango.

So, how did the smoothie stand up?

PCFG Is Off For A Week! Sorry For No Posts!

As you can see, no new posts on PCFG this week unfortunately! Our deepest apologies if you were really looking forward to one. We’re still working on the site’s next relaunch, pending a super srsbiz meeting between Meg and I. Don’t sweat it though, Summer is right around the corner! And with summertime comes our awesome, mid-year posting schedule which includes both a new recipe and a Smoothie Sunday post every single week!

Until then, we leave you with the following question: is this a picture of one of our butts?

Dough butt.
