Smoothie Sunday: Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a staple childhood food. They’re easy to make, yummy, and actually pretty healthy for you (assuming you use ingredients not loaded down with corn syrups and chemical preservatives). Erik and I first discovered this combination in drink-able form as a milkshake last year when we were both recovering from our respective oral surgeries and were desperate for new liquid things to eat. I decided this year to try making it in smoothie form so I could have it for breakfast. And it worked!
The Cereal Report: Jif Peanut Butter Cereal
The Cereal Report is a column in which PCFG conducts various cereal reviews, of new or limited products, as well as providing brief backgrounds on the cereal. Cereal is delicious and fairly cheap as far as meals go. Everyone should eat cereal!
I’ve covered peanut butter cereal before, and as mentioned I am an ardent fan of peanut butter. I eat it on ice cream, in milkshakes, on toast, on pancakes, you name it. So this one took me by surprised when I went into the supermarket for a routine visit, last week:

Recipe Time! Strawberry Peanut Butter Toast
Okay, so this isn’t so much a recipe as it is me just sharing this idea with you, but I’ll write it out in recipe form anyway.
As Erik mentioned in his last post, breakfast is an often skipped meal, which is a shame since it’s an important way to get your day started and also has lots of yummy foods. Even faster than French toast is regular toast, which can be kind of boring to eat every day, but luckily there are lots of ways to easily fancy it up.
We Can Do it Better: Brownie Brittle
Okay guys, admit it, you knew this was coming, right? As soon as I said in my review of Brownie Brittle that it’s good, but expensive, you knew we’d be figuring out how to make our own. In reality we’ve been planning this even before I wrote the review article. What really pushed us over the edge into finally making it was when got our hands on the salted caramel flavor Brownie Brittle and were incredibly underwhelmed. We knew we could do it better, and now you can too!
The basic idea was just to make a brownie batter and instead of baking it in a pan, spreading it really thin on a baking sheet. In order to do this you need to have a baking sheet that has a rim, like this:
The Cereal Report: Peanut Butter Toast Crunch
One of the greater tragedies of the last decade was the loss of one of my favorite cereals, French Toast Crunch. It was still around at first, it just just wasn’t the same, having its formula changed drastically several years ago, and finally being discontinued since the new formula was shitty. Since then I was very skeptical towards any of the Toast Crunch cereals, sort of aloof and even somewhat protesting of them. That is, up until I read that General Mills was bringing back Peanut Butter Toast Crunch, which existed many years ago for a short period of time, and which I had never been able to try. Considering Meg and I love peanut butter enough to have covered it in Midnight Snack already, you can imagine my elation upon finding this bad boy in stores once again.
