Quick Recipe: Kare-Raisu (Japanese Curry) カレーライス (Simple Version!)

So we’ve covered Japanese curry before on PCFG. But if you’ve looked at that recipe already, you may have found it a bit intimidating. It calls for some random foodstuffs and has about 72,000 total ingredients. But what if you’re craving some sweet, sweet curry but don’t want to go all-out? Well, you can buy a packet of curry starter-sauce, okay… But hey hang on, you may just have all the ingredients lying around for this simpler version of it!

Smoothie Sunday: Cherry Peachy Smoothie

Erik and I went to a peach festival last Sunday so I wanted to make a peach smoothie in honor of that.  Since I also still had cherries to use up I tossed those in too.  The result was yummy and refreshing.  Now I just need to come up with some more peach recipes to use all the peaches we got at the festival!

The Poor Couple Has Big News!

It’s been a bit of a slow year here at PCFG, and a few of you may be wondering why our posts have tapered off in the past year or so. Well, to start off, we’d like to apologize to our fans who may be missing our more regular posting schedule. We swear we have a good excuse though!

Originally, we had moved into a new apartment together at the beginning of this year, and figured by Summertime we’d be back into the swing of posting things. Unfortunately that didn’t quite happen. After a handful of financial crises (including an emergency new car purchase), we were finally able to put the hectic past 7 months behind us. That brings us to our big news!

The Poor Couple got engaged!

So yes, in other words, the Poor Couple will now be even poorer! We joke of course, since this is a happy time, but as you can imagine, getting engaged this Summer was obviously a big distraction from posting as well. Fortunately, we’re starting to get back on our feet and back closer to a more regular posting schedule. If all goes well, we should be able to at least get a few posts up per month like we used to (though we can’t promise this, since as everyone knows, wedding planning is a lot of work)! That aside, we may even be able to write up a few articles on doing some wedding planning on the cheap!

Thanks again to all our persistent fans! We’ll make sure to keep you all in the loop with fun new recipes, Pizza Lab experiments, and cooking tips as we always have. Stay tuned!

Smoothie Sunday: Mixed Starfruit Smoothie

I’m not sure how common starfruits are.  When I was younger I used to get them from the grocery store often, but then I went a long time without seeing them.  When I finally saw starfruit again at the store the other day I bought couple.  I knew I wanted to try making a smoothie with one because they have a very light, refreshing taste.  To boost up the amount of fruit I added some blueberries we’re still trying to finish and some pineapple we had lying around.  I ended up with a very summery, refreshing smoothie that’s high in vitamin C and antioxidants.  Can’t beat that.
