The Snack Report: Lance Sprinkled Sugar Sweet Creme Cookie Sandwiches
Posted by Meg
I saw these cookie sandwiches in the grocery store the other day, and figured since they were seasonal and limited edition they would be a good holiday-time snack report. While I haven’t reviewed them on the blog, I have eaten Lance sandwich crackers in the past and enjoyed them, so I figured these would be pretty good too.
Since I feel like Lance might not be a super well-known brand I decided to do some research on them. The company has actually been around since the early 1900s, though it wasn’t until the 1960s and beyond that they started reaching a wider audience. They now have a wide range of snacks, but most are based upon the sandwich format. Some are savory cracker sandwiches and others, like the ones being reviewed today are sweet cookie sandwiches. So how did these sweet creme cookie sandwiches fare?
They fared pretty well! They’re not as good as my favorite Lance snack sandwiches (which are the chocolate granola Cracker Creations), but they’re still tasty in their own right. First impression was that they’re somewhat similar to Golden Oreos.
Upon further eating though, they’re a bit less sweet (which is a good thing), and the cookie part perhaps a bit more formidable. Again, this isn’t a bad thing. In fact, while called cookie sandwiches, the cookie part is almost more like a cross between a cookie and a cracker in terms of crispness.
The red and green sprinkles that I suppose are what make them “seasonal favorites” don’t really add much flavor-wise, but are a nice festive touch. Overall, I enjoyed this snack. I liked that it was a sweet snack, but not overly sweet. The 6 cookies per sleeve was a good amount for a quick snack. While they’re obviously no replacement for homemade Christmas cookies, I think they’re a good grab-and-go sweet holiday snack.
