Smoothie Sunday: Cherry Lemonade Smoothie
I really like cherries, so I wanted to try to use them in a smoothie. I also decided to make it even more summer-y by making it cherry lemonade flavor. The main problem with this smoothie was that I was using fresh cherries and don’t have a cherry pitter. Needless to say, removing all the pits was a major pain in the butt. However if you can find cherries whose pits have already been removed, or have cherry pitter, this smoothie will go a lot easier.
Cherry Lemonade Smoothie:
- 1 cup cherries, pits and stems removed
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 5.3 oz. container Greek yogurt (plain or cherry flavor)
- 6 ice cubes
- 5 watermelon cubes (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Sugar to taste
In a blender combine the cherries, yogurt, lemon juice, ice cubes and watermelon (if using). Add salt and sugar if needed. Once it’s well combined, pour into a tall glass and enjoy.
I added watermelon to both help boost the fruit content and add sugar to this smoothie. But if you don’t have any watermelon you can just add extra sugar.
